 I. General Rules
 
A. The faculty members, students and administrative personnel of İstanbul Şehir Üniversitesi can access the library without membership. However,
 
1. For borrowing,
 
2. For interlibrary loan,
 
3. For off campus access to the electronic resources,
 
4. For ordering publications, membership is required.
  
B.Graduate students and faculty members of other universities as well as researchers can use the library services within the library in accordance with the conditions established by the Administrative Board of the University. However they cannot borrow material.  
 
The following can benefit from the İstanbul Şehir Üniversitesi Libraries in accordance with the rules established by the Administrative Board of the University.
 
1.      İstanbul Şehir Üniversitesi graduates, with their graduate ID cards,
 
2.      Academic faculty members and graduate students of other universities, with their electronic cards,
 
3.      Researchers from the private and public sectors, as visiting patrons in accordance with the rules established by the Administrative Board; please see Form 8.    
 
C. It is required to show ID for borrowing.
 
D. In cases of damage to the library facilities and material, legal action is taken.
 
 
E. It is prohibited to enter the library with food and drinks, and to consume tobacco products. 
 
 
F. Patrons are responsible for their personal belongings. The library does not take responsibility for the theft and loss of personal belongings.
  
 
F. Patrons are required to turn off their mobile phones before entering the library.
 
 
G.The materials in the main and branch libraries are protected with an electronic security system.  It is prohibited to take out material without permission. In case of attempts to take out material without permission, legal action is taken.   
 
 
H.It is not allowed to conduct group work outside of the designated areas within the library and to work noisily.   
 
 
I. The closing procedures and announcements begin 15 minutes before closing time.
 
 
II. Membership
 
A. Membership procedures
 
1. Academic and administrative faculty members wishing to become a patron can visit the İstanbul Şehir Üniversitesi Library with their personnel ID cards and fill out the patron information form (Form 2). 
 
2. Academic members who are on contract / in visiting professor status can visit the Library with a written document from their unit specifying their duty and duration of employment at İstanbul Şehir Üniversitesi and fill out the patron information form (Form 2).
 
3. Students wishing to become a member can visit the Library with their İstanbul Şehir Üniversitesi ID cards and fill out the written contract (Form 1).
 
4. Retired employees wishing to become a patron can visit the Library with their İstanbul Şehir Üniversitesi Retired Employee ID cards and fill out the patron information form for retired employees (Form 3)
 
5. Other university libraries wishing to become a patron can fill out the interlibrary membership form (Form 4).
 
6. Patrons are given PIN numbers to be used for Library services.
 
 
 
B. Duration of membership
 
1. İstanbul Şehir Üniversitesi academic faculty members, administrative personnel, academic faculty members on contract / visiting professor status, can benefit from Library services for the duration of their employment at İstanbul Şehir Üniversitesi. 
 
2. Students of İstanbul Şehir Üniversitesi and visiting students can benefit from Library services for the duration of their studies at İstanbul Şehir Üniversitesi.
 
3. Graduates of İstanbul Şehir Üniversitesi can benefit from Library services with the graduate cards given to them. The terms and conditions of use for graduates will be established before the graduation date.
 
4. Retired employees can become patrons for 1 year after the date of application for membership. Retired personnel can extend their memberships at the end of their membership period. The memberships of those who do not ask for extension are terminated. 
  
C.  End or Suspension of Membership
 
a. End or Suspension of Membership
 
1. Upon temporary or permanent leave of personnel due to retirement, resignation, transfer, duty or miltary service, an “approval” document must be taken from the Library, 
 
2. Upon graduation or disenrollment for any reason, students are required to take the “approval” document.
 
b. Temporary Leave
 
1) Patrons are required to abide by the library rules. The memberships of those who do not abide by the rules, who cause problems, who keep the library personnel from doing their work,  who disturb the discipline and silence in the library, are suspended for 1 month with the approval of the related boards.
 
2) The memberships of those who lend their İstanbul Şehir Üniversitesi ID cards to others and engage in forgery are suspended for 1 month with the decision of the related boards;, and the membershios of patrons who receive disciplinary punishment is susupended for 2 months.
 
3) For members who damage the library facilities and materials or take out the library material without permission, notification is made to the necessary units and legal action is demanded.
